As a destination wedding photographer working across New Zealand & Beyond

Candid, documentary-style photography for couples saying “I do” somewhere unforgettable.

Real weddings. Real moments. Timeless stories.

SR Photography documents destination weddings across New Zealand’s most striking landscapes — Wanaka, Queenstown, the Coromandel, and further afield. Based in Auckland and available to travel, I follow your day as it unfolds naturally, wherever that day happens to be. My approach doesn’t change with the location: candid, unscripted, and true to how your wedding actually felt.

Why I Love Shooting Destination Weddings

New landscapes bring new light, new backdrops, and moments you can’t plan for — which is exactly what candid photography is built for. Whether it’s golden hour over Lake Wanaka or an intimate elopement tucked into the mountains, I’m drawn to the way a new place changes how a couple moves through their day. My job doesn’t change: stay close, stay quiet, and capture the day as it actually happens — just somewhere spectacular.

Love Stories in Motion

Wedding Films Across New Zealand

At SR Photography, we believe some moments are best experienced in motion. The trembling voice during vows, the burst of laughter on the dance floor, the quiet glance between two people about to begin their forever, these are the details that film captures in a way that photographs alone cannot.

In collaboration with the talented videographers Kevin and Karina, we craft cinematic wedding films that feel as natural and authentic as the day itself. No scripts, no direction — just your story, told honestly and beautifully.

2027-2028 Wedding Photography Investment

As a destination wedding photographer, I work with couples across New Zealand and beyond, Wanaka lakeside ceremonies, Queenstown elopements, Waikato barn celebrations, and everything in between. I’m proud to document weddings on farms, vineyards, beaches, and in intimate backyard settings, wherever your day takes place.

If you’re planning a destination wedding and searching for a candid, documentary-style photographer to tell your story, I’d love to hear about your day.

All packages include a planning meeting either over coffee in person or via Zoom, where we build a detailed runsheet, walk through every part of your wedding, and align on the vision for your photos. For destination weddings, this also covers travel logistics and timeline planning specific to your location.

We also offer packages with fine art, custom-framed prints, boutique fine art albums, and extended coverage, so every part of your celebration, wherever it happens, is captured and kept.

Do you charge extra for travel?

Domestic New Zealand travel (flights, accommodation, and a travel day either side of the wedding) is added to your package based on the location. I’ll always give you an exact quote before you book — no surprises. International destinations are considered on a case-by-case basis; get in touch to discuss.

For most New Zealand destinations, I plan for a travel day before, the wedding day itself, and a travel day after — sometimes combined with a second shoot (like an engagement session) if you’d like to make the most of the trip. Exact timing depends on the location and your schedule.

Yes — destination weddings require a minimum booking to cover travel time and logistics. Full details are on the Pricing page, or reach out and I’ll talk you through what fits your day.

This can be arranged for destination weddings, particularly larger celebrations or multi-day events. Let me know what you’re planning and I’ll recommend what makes sense.

Most commonly Wanaka, Queenstown, and the Coromandel, but I’m open to any New Zealand location — and international destinations on request. If you’re planning somewhere specific, just ask.
